Reminds me of a doormat I once saw. It read “Caution, Attack Dog, He Will SLOBBER You To Death!”

Slim’s thought “yeah, that’s a puppy the same way the Browns’ never-seen neighbour’s cat is a kitten”

A mixture of both Marmaduke and Scooby-Doo
I’m surprised Scancarelli didn’t include Ace!

Second panel, the dog’s face looks like Rufus.

Actually, overly affectionate, slobbery, puppies are not generally sensitive to negative vibes from their “victims”/“objects of affection”. It takes a lot to discourage them. (And, no, I don’t dislike dogs. In fact, I favor them over cats. I am just a realist when it comes to this type of dog.)

Anyone think the dog looks just like Rufus with his hat off? The dog is probably smarter.

A very “Dick Moores” perspective in panel 1.
