    I still don’t understand why the choir director invited Rufus to join.

    This might be the first time we’ve ever seen Rufus with his hat off. Wow, he has eyes… and hair!

    @SUSAN NEWMAN

    Wow, I’m the first to post here today.
    What an honor (sarcasm implied)!

    Congratulations!
    Now, do you actually have anything to SAY?
    ………………..
    Occasionally, ol’ Rufe comes up with a gem.

    In Mort Walker’s book, “Backstage at the Strip,” the author explains about how, in the early days of Beetle Bailey, prior to his going into the service, Mort drew a strip in which Beetle (then known as “Spider”) removed his hat in class (he was a college student at the time), revealing his eyes. But Mort killed that particular strip, and it never saw print…until “BatS” was published.

    In many mainline churches well to do parishioners
    sponsor a stain glass window in remembrance of a
    departed love one. Rufus never had anyone explain to
    him that a stained glass window is much more expensive
    than a double paned window.

    This makes the second time we’ve seen Rufus without his hat!
    .
    The first, wasn’t it?, was when he went to see if Miz Melba, the mayor, was in when there was a possibility of himself getting money for getting hitched.
