How much longer do we have to see these two
    knuckleheads in this strip?

Some weeks ago, I read some strips from the middle 70’s when Mores was still doing it. They were far funnier and much more grounded in reality.

That hand in the third panel is awfully bad drawn.

Hey!, its a comic strip – NOT real life. If you don’t like it, don’t read it but quit trying to spoil it for everybody else!

Wonder if the strip will be renamed “The misadventures of Rufus and Joel”?

    re: Night Gaunt

Not particularly. The occult became big in this state in the 1970s. Most of it has been in people’s homes.
One reason why I never sweated things like D&D or Harry Potter is that no one who has seen the real thing can mistake it for the fantasies depicted in D&D or Harry Potter.
On the flip side, I quit watching CSI:New York when they had a group of satanists (they called them vampires in the show) and while cleaned up considerably, their rites were straight out of what one might see around this state. The oath sworn by people in that episode “no other gods but me” was really disturbing, but accurate, although it wasn’t mentioned to whom that oath was made, but you can guess. They even went so far as to show a girl being possessed in a positive light, and having run into possessed people a number of times, it’s not exactly something someone should aspire to.
Neo-pagan religions like wicca are primarily about sex. I doubt if the original celtic religions were like that— one doesn’t see the modern pagans sacrificing people, blood, and mistletoe to trees, tossing people in peat bogs, or doing ghastly divinations using swords and other instruments of mayhem— but most of modern paganism dates to the 1920s. Most of the women (and it was mostly women) who got into it saw it as a chance to party. And party they did.
The rest wasn’t so good, though. After the fun wore off, many got trapped in it. Demonic oppression and even possession are not things people enjoy, to say the least. Demonic power and drugs were the other two main tenets of wicca. People would have a blast for a time, but then…
And there were cults that did kill people or animals. Most Oregon towns have areas where such things took place. One is about 4 miles east of where I’m typing this.
About 100 miles the other way, a catholic priest some years back led a group that rescued a little kid from one of hte local groups. One would have thought that would make the national media, but it didn’t.

Jim seems to be doing what he likes and likes the best and Joel and Rufus are his favored characters at the moment. I don’t think he really cares what some fans of GA think. In my own opinion I think the strip has become very weak in story and art and like some others have said either put up or quit reading but don’t stop complaining. The comic strip syndicate will get wind of it eventually and tell Jim to shape up or get canceled.

I am starting to suspect that Joel and Rufus will continue until the b%tching and complaining stops.

Yeah, any of them. I vote for that. And real stories again. Please!
