This reminds me of “Ice Road Truckers In South
America” Discovery Channel series I watched a
    while back.

Mules are surefooted and won’t go anywhere if they sense danger. Becky has crossed this bridge countless times without any major incidents, so “bunkle” your mouth Slim and enjoy the ride!

That’s a scary bridge. All of the shear forces are in the two pieces of wood serving as the bridge deck. The greatest moment of inertia is right in the middle. There are no diagonals to distribute the forces.

However, the addition of Slim’s weight is surely no minor consideration!

In reality…they wouldn’t make the first step. However in cartoonville they will make it just fine…I’ll bet.

What’s Slim complaining about? With all of the time they save, this will cut his taxi-ride bill in half.

    It looks fairly solid, really.

It’s a cartoon, not an engineering case study, for gods sake.
    Get a grip.

You forget—Becky never carried that extra tonnage.

There was a bridge like this when I waa a kid. It spanned a railroad track. They had placed wooden runners for cars to drive on. I always wondered what would happen if a car drove off the runners. Dad would drive across, and I have been afriad of heights evver since.

In the first panel, it is interesting that the bridge rates a streetlight.

If Slim lands on his head…no harm done.
