Where’s the annual walk in the woods ?
Ravenswing said, 13 days ago
Yeah, the foliage is passing fast … we’re close to bare sticks now in southern New England.

Once again autumn colors in the Ozarks far exceeds that of anywhere else in the USA. We would make a truly wonderful walk in the woods for GA.

The minister who performed my sister’s wedding drove in 2, 000 miles just to do the ceremony. Maybe this preacher would return for her funeral, if he doesn’t go first.

Clovia is sure to outlive the preacher. She has that Wallet blood in her and they seem to live forever.

H’mmm…maybe it’s a foreshadowing about Walt.

So, the REAL the Reverend Warren Peacegood is still the interim pastor while the Reverend Pastor Present is on vacation?
Did Warren balance out his sermon with New Testament texts since this is a church service for Christians?
In my tradition, when a minister is old enough to be my parent, Brother is used with a surname out of respect; but, otherwise just given names are used.
Some pastors act like “Pastor” is their given 1st name and use it that way when they introduce themselves to others and talk about themselves in their TV ads. But, “Pastor” is a position title. In my opinion, “Reverend” only applies when a committee had given an ordination to a person.
With some people most of their “Christian” doctrine comes from the Old Testament and very little of it from Jesus’ own words.
The Ozarks are in Missouri, Arkansas and in extreme Eastern Oklahoma, too.
I won’t argue that fall colors in the Ozarks are better than in other states since I haven’t been in that many states during the fall season.
But, I have lived in 2 different places in the Ozarks. One of them was in Cherokee County, Oklahoma and the other in Webb City, Missouri, where I taught one year.
When I lived in NE Missouri, West of St. Louis, I did travel from north of Jefferson City to Fayetteville Arkansas and then through the foothills of the Ozarks in Eastern Oklahoma on the way to Tulsa. I made that round trip a few times when I took a fellow teacher to Fayetteville where his wife lived.
Otherwise, when I went home to Tulsa, I didn’t go through Arkansas.

Funerals are for people who want to go to a ceremony to feel sad about the person who died. Mourners go to those rites.
I prefer to attend Celebration of Life services for the loved ones who have passed on.

By the way, Solomon was NEVER poor. That’s because his father, David, the King of Israel, was rich when he died.
There are many proverbs in the OT book of Proverbs that are not supported by scriptures in the New Testament.

IMO, most of the Proverbs are very good advice and do not contradict any Christian teachings.
My first thought was that the Wallet clan may have a funeral in the next two weeks.

I’d like to see the return of “Reverend” Upton O. Good and Ramona Lisa. That was the best storyline this strip has had in recent years.
BTW, I wonder if Clovia will pre-decease her grandfather?
Jazzlily said, 12 days ago
Amen to that, Bro. Ubsy. Don’t usually agree with you, but in this case I think many will agree whether they say so or not.
Side note: Here on the West Coast our deciduous trees have a long way to go before they are bare twigs. Just now beginning to change color.

I hate these “morality plays”…

I flag every hateful remark which the hateful person with the screen name of “NotNormanChubsyUbsy” posts.
I have never called him names!

Slim has a great punch line today. It’s a mild version of the old slapstick humor from the old comics days, like Smokey Stover or Mutt and Jeff. An example:
“Did you know that if you live in Gasoline Alley, you can’t be buried in the town’s cemetery?”
“Really? Why not?”
“Because you’re not dead.”

And you NNC have much to learn. MUCH!

Hmm, in the vernacular, I think I smell a bit of legalism in a few of these posts….

The walk in the woods doesnt always happen every year. A few weeks ago there was a link to a site which had archived many of them. I’m sure most of you saw it. Anyway at the site they actually listed the years that there was no ‘annual’ walk in the woods. I’m afraid this year will be one of them. Unless we count Walt’s apparent ‘Walk in the Cemetary’.

I flagged YOU Not Norman! You’re way more annoying than JAD is. Why can’t you simply bypass his comments if you don’t want to read them? No one is tying you down and forcing you to read them. Why don’t you grow up already and cease and desist with the name calling?
Jazzlily said, 11 days ago
How can you bypass them? They go on forever, en ever, en ever!

Keep on turning that mouse wheel. Works every time.
BTW, I also flagged Norman. While Joe is boring and irrelevant, Norman is insulting and has been requested by Liam to stop calling Joe an idiot. That last item alone is enough to make me flag him every time he does it.
