Beautiful art! The musicians and dancers bring to my mind the work of Russell Patterson, a household name in the Jazz Age, largely forgotten today: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russell_Patterson

I have always loved Gasoline Alley. I hope Gertie isn’t too disappointed with what happens. I can’t wait to see the strip every day to check on it.

Gertie you stick out like a sore thumb. I can’t wait til Byrd notices her. Will he recognize her or just say get out of here?

Earl Lee, you are back in Gasoline Alley. Anything is liable to happen.

Suggested next story arc: Sen. Wilmer Bobble (Skeezix’s old partner) is suspected of cheating on his wife. Suspicion abounds that the “the other woman” is a 49-year-old blonde riding a motorcycle and wearing a leather jacket emblazoned “Corky’s Diner”. After weeks of denials by Eve, it turns out to be Ramona Lisa! Upton is devastated. Fade out as he’s sharing a chocolate malted with Terry at the diner.

Okay almost to the end of this story line, but I beg, please bring back the real Gertie……not this hollywood version.

WHERE”S WALT!!!
comic-reader said, about 1 month ago
the stories are good, but he needs to tighten them up a bit. waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay toooooooooooooooo long!
harebell said, about 1 month ago
Walt was given a special senior’s seat due to his amazing age and is watching the show with Corky.
The crook will come out (shepherd’s crook , a la vaudeville) and drag Gertie off stage. She’ll retreat to the green room with the cat. Where Bird will see her but not recognise her on account of the wig and physical adjustments, and will tell her she’s fired. Exit, weeping.
OldManMountain, your story line is next, how fast can you get through it ? We have a short attention span in this crowd.

It never occurred to me until today, but how many blues musicians have chorus girls dancing to their music?

I enjoy EVERY morning coming on here to check to see what has happened. And can’t wait for the next day to come to see what will happen.
For the ones that are habitual complainers on here. I have a suggestion…dial 1-800-Wah-Waah…geeesshh we know already that you aren’t happy with this storyline. You don’t need to repeat and repeat and repeat.
When I don’t like the storyline..i simply shut up. But for this story arc..I love it, the art is just as fabulous as ever. And I’m glad they brought back Byrd!!!

EarlWash and ORteka cracked me up with their comments today! I’ll join in by urging Mr. Scancarelli to take his own sweet time– we’re not going anywhere, and neither are the long-time complainers apparently, some of whom have been blowing the same single discordant note for months now. See you tomorrow… everyone.

Dear Whiners,
If a comic is not bringing you happiness, why do you choose to continue reading it? It shows a tremendous lack of maturity to sit in on something you dislike and make everyone else around you miserable.
The comic belongs to Jim Scancarelli - NOT YOU. It is also immature to expect that he should change his style or pace to suit your needs.
If you’re old enough to write posts here, you’re old enough to learn decent, mature behavior, so it doesn’t matter if I’m addressing 70-year-old’s or 7-year-old’s… and believe me, some days it’s really hard to tell!

Mark me up as one that is interested in the twists and turns of this arc.

Count me in as number 5 or 6 who are enjoying this story arc!
As I said in a previous post, if some of you dislike reading Gasoline Alley so much, why don’t you just take it off your reading list?

Love that kick to Gertie’s posterior. It’s the funniest part of this whole story line.

Dear Whiners II,
If this is too slow for you, why don’t you go watch a movie on TV, where the frames go by at ten per second! This is a COMIC STRIP, and the frames go by at a much slower rate… only a few per day.
Quaby said, about 1 month ago
I guess I’m #8 fan of the strip and storyline. As for the whiners….they’re trolls. The best policy is not to feed the trolls. They’re looking for responses.
I guess I just broke my own rule, but I had to say something, especially that I LOVE this storyline

Come on everyone, you know that one of the cardinal rules of comics and soap opera is pacing. Earl won’t notice that it’s Gertie until Saturday. (At the earliest) Then there will be the Sunday break. We won’t get much more than high kicks until Monday. Meanwhile we’ll all enjoy Sundays break with either Rufus or Slim. I

I wanted to thank Xrystalia for her post. Me I am enjoying this and from an audience viewing the strip I think it is very funny also I might think its part of the show.
In Branson, MO entertainers would have audience participate and they would litterally take over the show.
I hope this happens with Gertie. Its so funny. If you go to DT that goes as the same pace. Only GA is funny.
