    As Powerboy said, “Gertie’s going to get a second chance.” I think too that Earl will become a regular, as much as an itinerant musician can be.

    I can’t take much more of this. Byrd is back. Upton O. Goode was on the scene forever. What about all the characters that made GA over the decades. Where are they? I’m going to take 4-6 weeks away from the strip and decide whether to return as a regular reader … OR NOT!

    The artwork is awesome. The old styling of the cameras gives it a nice vintage look.

    How far is it from GA to LA? If Bird had to walk from Corky’s diner to the club where he played for Gertie, how long did it take him to get to the Conan show? I guess about as long as it took to get thru the Upton story.

    …and if anyone cares, I love this strip !

    The story of how an itinerant dishwasher and harmonica player ended up with a hit record and national tv interviews seems like it would have been more interesting than the one about the criminals in the parsonage.

    I used to think that “Gasoline Alley” referred to the fact that Walt Wallet’s gas station and garage was located next to an alley. I didn’t know that Gasoline Alley was a town.

    If you do research on the artist and the strip, you will find that “Gasoline Alley” was only a part of another comic strip series. Gasoline Alley was where Walt and his cronies met to talk about automobiles.

    Come to think of it, yeah…since when is the TOWN called “Gasoline Alley?” I always thought it was one of those things like what state the Simpsons live in, never to be revealed. The Gasoline Alley garage was named after Walt’s old hangout…does this mean the town renamed itself after its oldest resident? And what’s up with Walt anyways???

    Gasoline Alley was originally a one-panel comic written and drawn by Frank King. It was part of a group of one-panel comics.

    Anyone read Nancy and Sluggo? It’s another oldie. I think they’ve got new artists, there a nice change in it. It still has an old fashioned feel to it, yet manages to keep a new perspective. They make some pretty good music jokes too.

    I check in on Nancy every now and then but I would much rather be reading VINTAGE Nancy rather than the “space age” Nancy. Also - the page where I get Nancy ALSO has Ferdin’nd. Ferdie looks like they COULD be vintage Ferd. I think these comics guys are missing out on a serious gold mine when they overlook the potential audience there is for CLASSIC comics!
