Gasoline Alley by Jim Scancarelli is a gentle, good-natured continuing story of four generations of Wallets. Readers return daily for this positive slice of life, with universal themes and commonplace situations.

How did Slim recognize them? IIRC, the only crooks Slim saw were the Goodes.

He recognized the car as not theirs.

Gertie, check on Walt before you watch Conan O’Barbarian.

Ugggghhhh that disgusting custom of labelling the wife as Mrs. man’s first and last name. I hate it! Her name is Ramona Goode now.
I wonder if Gertie’s still thinking of Earl? Maybe this is the beginning of another story arc with them.

Yay Gertie! Good to see you back!
Macush, I’m with you. It’s outdated and sexist.

Great…another happy ending??

Let’s hope Mrs. Upton O. Goode has learned to love, honor, and OBEY!
About time we got some sanity back in the marriage contract.

Presumably her choice. In our state the application for the license gives both bride and groom the option of name change or to retain the birth name.

Just exactly where is Gasoline Alley located? Gasoline Alley doesn’t sound like the name of a town. Does anyone know what town (or state) they’re in? They apparently have their own television station.

What’s wrong with using Mr. & Mrs. Upton O. Goode when referring to both of them? That’s how the preacher at a wedding introduces them to the congregation after the ceremony. Sure, she’s Ramona Goode now (if she chooses to use the name - personally I liked Ramona Lisa.) and in casual circumstances they are Upton & Ramona Goode. But formally they are and should be Mr. & Mrs. Goode.

Mr. Scancarelli - you’re going to have to actually SHOW Slim doing something smart, in order for it to be believable…….

Okay, not to nitpick too overmuch, but…how many small, local auto repair shops do you know of that also paint cars?
crunkbot said, 3 months ago
Maybe she has died peacefully on her couch, while watching her stories. That would be very poignant.

“Ding, dong!”
Gertie answers Walt’s front doorbell. Judy & Gideon Grubb are there. Gideon still is a grouch. Judy still wears her hair in a ponytail.
It’s the beginning of a Grubb story arc as Judy and Gideon tell Walt that their 43-year-old son Gabriel is getting married. His gay cousin Nubbin Wallet (Corky’s oldest) will be best man.
Walt can’t remember any of them, but tries to tell them a story about Smokey Stover and what “Notary Sojac” means.
Joe Allen Doty said, 3 months ago
Oh, was the sexual orientation of Nubbin Wallet ever mentioned in this comic strip?
Or, OldMountainMan, are you just basing your comments on homophobic stereotypes of gay people?

Slim Skinner knew exactly what Upton O. Goode’s car looked like because he saw it when he met Upton and Ramona Lisa.
That’s how he recognized it as a stolen car.
Gertie changes the positions of her arms in the 2nd panel. So, she’s still alive.

Thank you Jim Scancarelli for finally bringing this turgid and sanctimonious story to and end!

Risita, you make a very good point. I was thinking along the same lines.
After dragging this story out for weeks ( which is usual for comic strips- if you don’t like that, don’t read them)this part is wrapped up in one strip.

Yes, I too think she’s alive.

Jumbobrain, my mechanic runs a body shop and repair shop combined. It’s what you do in a small town.

I’d much rather watch Kay Leno than Conan O’Barbarian anyday. That guy has ruined the Tonight Show.
