Must we have these hideous teeth pictures on the web site? Can’t that ad agency find anything more appealing, like a nice smile or something? It looks like we’re all about to be chomped.
As for the strip, lovely scene in the middle panel. Looks like the wall is talking. If walls could talk.
I think Ramona knows something Upton doesn’t. Perhaps the real Rev. Peacegood is here somewhere? And besides, did they succeed in stealing anything?
And if impersonating a minister is a crime, then Revs. Jesse and Al can be arrested too.

For mrbribery–last I checked, ID theft (impersonating another person) is an indictable offence.

We don’t know what happened to the missing minister. We do know that Upton didnt have anything to do with it. Slim assumed Upton was the minister and Upton just went along with it. While it may not be ethical I’m not sure it’s illegal. And besides, Upton has come clean. Unless he’s done something somewhere else, perhaps a robery over in Rex Morgan, he’s clean.
“And if impersonating a minister is a crime, then Revs. Jesse and Al can be arrested too.”
My sentiments exactly BigGrouch. Of course, Jesse and Al have a friend in high places who will invite everyone over for a beer “to put the incident behind them and move on” if the cops try to arrest them.
Jesse & Al should be arrested! I’m surprised they weren’t at the white house for a free beer. I personally feel the officer should’ve refused to go, but I’ll bet he had no choice!
It’s not illegal to pretend to be somebody. He didn’t commit ID fraud in that he didn’t use a real person’s SS number or other info.. Impersonation with intent to commit financial fraud can be an offense, but it’d be hard to show such intent on Upton’s part. Giving a long-winded sermon is, unfortunately, no crime.
I personally feel the officer should’ve refused to go, but I’ll bet he had no choice!
You can be sure that he had no choice and that he was told what to say during his interview. If he had been guilty of anything he was accused of he would have been terminated and a congressional task force would be formed to “investigate and stamp out racism.”
But since Gates obviously lied and tried to make everything a racial incident and Obama stuck both feet in his mouth, the best thing to do is have a beer and peanuts, discuss it like gentlemen, “put it all behind us and move on;” just like the Duke lacrosse team debacle.
In other words, “Since we were embarrassingly wrong, let’s just call everything even and forget it ever happened.”
If we are going to indict those who falsely proclaim to be men of god, we can throw all the televangelists in jail and about 90% of the republicans in congress.
I went genius last week and I’m disappointed so far. It’s nice to get everything in one page. But if you post any at all it’s a pain. You have to load each page seperately to read or leave comments. But there are no teeth!
The “parson” of the church where Upton O. Goode is speaking is on vacation and he is “Pastor Present.”
In my opinion, the religious title of “Reverend” is only good in the person’s church where he preaches or in his denomination. Besides, Jesus did not approve of people in spiritual leadership of having religious titles.
Actually, Pastor Present is the Parson, but another minister named Warren Peacegood was on his way to fill in for him while he was on vacation. So what happened to him?
I would have told Mr. O to take my bottle of beer, and stuff it where the sun don’t shine SIDEWAYS!!! Gates could, too.
Most religions set up their ministries using credentials that they approve. For instance, seminaries, college degrees, etc.
Otherwise, anyone with a computer publishing program can print up a “Diploma”. You can find plenty of fake “degrees” on the net. I could be a minister for “X” number of dollars, anytime I want to waste the money.
Universal Life Church ordination is as legally valid as that of any other church for performing legal services. the Federal government saw to that clear back in the 60’s I believe. It has to do with separation of church and state. No one church or group of churches can conspire to prevent selected other churches from having the right to to exist and to perform rituals such as marriage and have those recognized by the government. Hence, the existence of New Age Churches among others.
Gasoline Alley by Jim Scancarelli is a gentle, good-natured continuing story of four generations of Wallets. Readers return daily for this positive slice of life, with universal themes and commonplace situations.

What would anyone say to the police if they called?
“Arrest him! He stole something, he didn’t say what!”

I’m docking you for semantics (wrong verb, you should have used “does” rather than “is”), bigg3469.

The strip has been kind of so-so. It’s interesting reading the comments of believers.
