Gertie has been leaving Uncle Walt alone A LOT lately.

She came to see if that offer has expired.

Unlike a few posters, I’m enjoying this storyline, along with Jim’s fantastic artwork. This is exactly what Frank King would often do in his dailies, focus on the meandering thoughts of one character, whether major or minor. I dunno, maybe we just don’t have the patience nowadays to follow a strip that doesn’t have a gag-a-day. ANYTHING, however, is better than another R&J “epic”.

Yep, it’s a story all right. Maybe she’ll get married but stay with Mr. Walt while Earl Lee goes on the road. Can’t see him settlin’ down at all.

I just love that dining car diner. The first panel is charming.

Keep up with this and leave Rufus and Joel meandering about in the junkyard.

Nice new interface, except the GA icon shows some old guy that apparently has nothing to do with this comic.

MaxStarmanJones: with a ninety year old series, it’s wise to take the long view!
Stringmuse: I’d like a Corky’s t-shirt with that first panel image.
Airboy20: the last few days, more and more readers have been giving the arc and art high praise, showing that many do indeed have the patience to enjoy a well-crafted story like this one.

OK - off topic here but HELP! Is anyone else having problems navigating this new format? Icons for my selected strips appear up top but get buried once I open an individual strip. The “help” topics don’t cover this.

I have no complaints. But……… I agree about Rufus & Joel,
boring.

I just save to Favorites the page for the strips I like. It saves me the trouble of wading through a list of other strips I am not interested in.

I didn’t know if anyone else knew this or not but the advice - “If it ain’t broke - don’t fix it!” ORIGINATED in the Gasoline Alley comic strip back in the 40’s! Walt had hired someone new to work at the garage with him for a while and, when Walt took a couple of days off to go fishing, he left the new man in charge at the garage. Walt’s parting advice to the new man was that if anyone brought anything in that “ain’t broke - DON’T fix it!” The advice was picked up in a Western movie - I think maybe Gene Autry or Roy Rogers.
I agree with IGoPogo2 - I am having a devil of a time with this new format. Fortunately, most of my favorite comics are available elsewhere with formats which are easier to navigate - so I have cut back on visiting Go Comics and only check out the few comics which are NOT available anywhere else. Such as, unfortunately, Gasoline Alley!
In my opinion - someone at Go Comics SHOULD have taken Walt’s advice - about NOT fixing something if it was NOT broken - seriously!

Thanks, Deborah Reyes– I did not know that about the phrase, but I’ll be happy to remember to credit Walt whenever I use it, That’s a true classic.

Actually I like the new format. I can post my comment and rather than going “back” to get back to my queue I can just click at the top to the next comic in my queue. This is one time when they actually did improve it.

That’s a big plus, I agree Macushlalondra. For some reason though reading the comments section is more difficult (not the word I want, but I’m not sure what I mean). Just different.

Well, for me the new format is easier to post….but the drawback is I finally had to sign up for the bedurned thing. Skipping over strips which didn’t update is a plus, too.
Main problem…..the earliest I read comics on the weekdays is about 7pm or so. Most times there are so many comments I can’t read them all, much less post (like Big Top) Oh well………people say I talk too much and say too little anyway.
