Back in ‘12, Mourdock ran for Senate. The press managed to spin one of his perfectly innocent remarks in such a way that he lost.

Now, just because he says Obama that has brought the US to the exact same state as Weimar in ’31 (the big election in Weimar was in ’33), the press is once again making a big deal about it.

(In fact, most of the English-speaking world was very happy with that ’33 election, since most sane people were terrified of the Communist menace, and Weimar elected a man perceived as Europe’s best hope to stop the spread of Communism, which was spreading by a combination of force and elections. Sadly, with 20/20 hindsight, we know how wrong the anti-Communists were in the ’30s, since the man elected as Reich Chancellor in ’33 eventually lost all of Eastern Europe to the Communists after a few unfortunate military upsets for which military historians blame his fear of generals and insistence on running the military campaign against the Communists all by himself.)

If Mr. Cubes comments are read over the long term the common factor is his fertile imagination.
Not quite as smart as the republican extremist’s fabrications, but still ridiculous when compared to real events.

Are you saying Obama didn’t say those things?Or say in a speech that there should be a national police force as well trained and equipped as the military answerable only to the president? Some one poited out that that was what the SS was.It was edited out of all the sound bites shown by the LWNJ news nerds.

Well those Plutocrats and their minions do want a form of fascism here. One where their economic, social and religious ideas will triumph by force.

Obama was talking about 57 legislatures because we still have non-states as part of the USA. Look it up and stop pushing that misfactoid.

“Obama was talking about 57 legislatures because we still have non-states as part of the USA. Look it up and stop pushing that misfactoid.”
    .
I did and this is what Snopes came up:
TRUE: Barack Obama said he had visited 57 states.
FALSE: Barack Obama’s statement was a reference to 57 Islamic states.”
    .
Now if you look at the complete remark at Snopes it gets weirder:
“I’ve now been in fifty …. seven states? I think one left to go. One left to go. Alaska and Hawaii,”
    .
So it’s not entirely clear whether he thinks there are 57, 58 or 59 states, or perhaps he think Alaska and Hawaii are one state…
    .
Do you think he visited 57 legislatures? Do you get paid to be an Obama apologist? That was some pretty darn fancy smoke and mirrors….

You might recall that it was the GW Bush administration who bankrupted America.

Watch the actual video, and yes he did end up saying “fifty” (pause) “seven states.” As is clear to any but the Obama haters, he was looking very fatigued. People make simple errors when tired. That’s it. Bush on the other hand had a real problem with language, tired or not. You never knew what wacky sounding thing might escape when he talked. Sometimes they defied logic.

There was a time when someone in the press would have simply asked,
“Mr. President, did you mean to say fifty-seven states?”
    “Did I say that?”
    Nods.
    “Oops, sorry, I meant forty-seven.”
Why that does not occur today, I don’t know.
Perhaps the polarization starts with the press.
Certainly, Fox News evil attack on Bergdahl’s dad indicates that.
    He looks like a muslim?
Put him in overalls and he would look like on of the “Soggy Bottom Boys” from O Brother, Where Art Thou?

Yeah, 57 states was a foolish comment. I’m sure that Obama meant to say something else, but then so do the politicians whose misstatements the media chooses to treat as a big deal.

Our imagination that Hitler ran on an anti communist campaign?
His full out attack on Russia was because they were brothers?
The communist program of murdering all Nazis was a figment because they were in alignment?

wow, just amazing the ignorance abounding.

Do you get paid for being an Obama attacker?
    -————-
Yes and no. First, it should be noted that politicians during a grueling campaign will stumble or have a slip of the tongue. Partisans will leap on these mistakes immediately and say they “prove” something bad about the candidate. The truth is usually far more nuanced. In this case, the incident occurred during the 2008 campaign, and yes, during an interview, Barack Obama said he had been to all 57 states. This immediately aroused partisans on both sides. Some of his opponents said he was referring to the number of Muslim states (the rumor was that he was a secret Muslim; but as snopes.com pointed out, there are more than 57 Muslim states or countries— 60 is the accepted number). Some of his supporters, as well as people who have been involved in campaigns, said this was supporters, as well as people who have been involved in campaigns, said this was sometimes make mistakes when they are speaking. Whichever interpretation you believe, there is no evidence that Mr. Obama doesn’t know how many states there are, since he frequently refers to the states he has visited. I enclose the link to the explanation from snopes.com.

So are you going to tell me that you really believe he believes there are 57 states?
