Condi’s speech wasn’t ‘free.’ She was supposed to get 35K and an ‘honorary’ degree. A few students who paid for their degrees ‘freely’ objected to both ‘payments’. Condi was ‘free’ to come and speak over those objections, no matter, and chose not to follow through. Why’d she choose that? What was it about student ‘free’ speech that scared her off her ‘free’ speech?

That’s your modern Democrat party- they embrace any idea, no matter how bizarre or perverse… unless they disagree with it. The person who cured cancer would not get an acknowledgement from the 0 administration unless he pretended to be a homosexual (that would garner a direct call from the White House).

And the bigot twins, why should they have a TV show? I don’t have one, nor do millions of others. They can still say what they want, just not on that TV network, just like you and me.

I have read nothing about the Benham twins that indicate they are bigots. Perhaps I should modify that and say that any discrimination they show has been learned from the bible.

But I have read their father is pretty famous for being an anti-abortionist who stalks abortion providers and invites violence by posting names and addresses on a website. Perhaps HGTV didn’t want to get in the middle of that.

They are preachers, they lost a television job due to their defense of traditional marriage.

Dude do you have any idea how you sound, Powell even supported Obama has not been considered a conservative in years. Want to talk about the road Obama has sent us down, Russia and the new cold war, slavery in Nigeria, it has been five years no this is not President Bush’s fault.

Maybe people resent paying their high fees to say things they don’t want to hear.

50 people out of a student population of 65,000 and 100 members of a faculty of 9,000 caused a former Secretary of State to rescind (or caused a university to ask her to rescind) on an invitation to speak at a commencement exercise because of their political beliefs. For such pathetically small groups to get their desire forces me to believe that there is something seriously wrong with how our society responds to the desires of such a meager showing of opposition. I advocate that consideration should be given to a minority viewpoint, but giving consideration to that viewpoint doesn’t automatically mean that their perspective should be responded positively to as has happened a Rutgers.

I heard it differently. I did not know they were preachers. They had a show ready for line-up at HGTV which showed them investing in houses, repairing/remodeling, and flipping. Then they were cancelled before the first show aired. To my knowledge, there was no reason given. The article I read notes that they believe they were fired because of their Christian values, but the article did not note any particular issue that was a sticking point. Some website devoted to “right wing watch” registered a protest with HGTV. Not sure how much influence they had; not sure they should have had any influence. But when the article described the work of their father, I could see a network executive not wanting to take a risk.

Duck Dynasty had a backlash of people rushing to promote it after A&E “suspended” one member, much like the rush to eat at Chic-Fil-A when Rahm Emmanuel said that stupid thing about them not being welcome in Chicago. But since then, the Dynasty has been losing ratings.

I am sure there will be more than one explanation, and that they will not be in agreement with one another.

Why should you care? Maybe you shouldn’t, but I imagine we haven’t seen the last of this subject.

When I was young, oh so many years ago, Secretary of State Dean Rusk came to speak at the college I was attending. (His son was a student at the same college, but I didn’t know him.) At the dinner before the speech, so I was told by a trusted informant, the wife of the college president said to Mrs. Rusk, “No one here likes your husband’s war.” When he gave his speech the audience made their feelings clear. But no one stopped him from speaking.

Amen brother, I have even been told that it is a good thing when a conservative like Marc Rubio was silenced one time. The left don’t care about the values of liberty, theirs is the values of equality, and they will have neither.

It’s a darn shame about the Benham twins. They’re awfully cute. They’d probably would have gotten good ratings on a network where a large portion of the target audience is gay men.
