Snowden’s actions were illegal. The surveillance programs he leaked — while highly controversial — apparently were not.
    .
The Patriot Act, passed in 2001 and reauthorized as recently as 2011, expanded on the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act. Once again, the people — through their elected representatives — opted for a compromise that reduced personal privacy and governmental transparency but increased security. Many disagree with the law, but it was not haphazard. It includes checks and balances that involve every branch of the government.

The people of our country are fine with giving up their freedoms in exchange for a perception of increased security. The framers of the Constitution foresaw our day and lamented our choices. We are no longer a free country; we are citizens in a cage built out of taxes by an increasingly fascist government. The current president is merely one of the evidences of how corrupt we have become as a people. We will all be like California and New York soon. Say goodbye to your personal freedoms and hello to Big Brother.

“The people of our country are fine with giving up their freedoms in exchange for a perception of increased security.”
    .
Eff that! They are giving up their “freedoms” for the chance to be famous for a few brief moments! On the outside chance that they can become the next Snookie.
    .
They are giving away their freedoms so they can have a facebook page.
    .
They’re giving away their freedoms so they can carry the hottest most App’ed cell phone.
    .
Want to give away your right to privacy? There’s an app for that!
    .
Want to give the police a road map to where you have and have not been? And how about telling him how fast you got there? There’s an app for that!
    .
There is a law pending someplace where drivers in accidents will have to give the police their cell phones right away. That way the officer can determine if one or both of the drivers were being “distracted” by using the cell phone at the time of impact.
    .
And then there’s ez-pass. It’s not as if they can’t, it’s a question of who starts to do it first. You went from point ‘a’ to point ‘b’ which is 300 miles in 3 hours? Here’s your ticket for going an average of 100MPH in a 65MPH zone!
    .
It’s interesting how this story has knocked the story of the Justice Dept collecting data on the press right off the national psyche!
    .
Life in NY state is pretty darned AOK by the way. if you know of something specific that makes where you live better than where I live, I’d like to hear it.

Blaming this on Obama is like blaming the rain on having washed your car.

Maybe the sainted GOP should have voted to cancel the surveillance, eh?

Yet you blame Bush 43 for starting it while supporting Obama continuing it.

Yes, Obama is to blame for not ending The Patriot Act on January 20, 2011… He expanded it in 2011.
