Mine too… Whatever happened to, “Ask not what your country can do for you…”?

You want to know how to end the recession TODAY? Joint TV-statement by Obama, Boehner, Reid in the Rose Garden saying “We are best buddies now, we will get everything fixed, do not worry, live your lives and be merry!”. Immediate buying frenzy, followed by hiring frenzy, followed by enormous tax revenue increase and savings on unemployment benefits WITHOUT THEM ACTUALLY DOING ANYTHING! Morty’s no-longer-secret master-plan to end the mental misery…

The republicans are all about “What your country can do…” for them but don’t you dare ask what they will do for their country. Because the answer is nothing. Someone else can pay for and build the roads, sewer, water supply, fire protection, police protection, education of their workers, electrical transmission wires, etc. they enjoy to improve and increase their business interests. Why should they pay anything towards the support of the very society they relied upon to create the environment they used to build their wealth?
As usual varvel ignores the other half of reality. NEVER has a republican proffered a real spending cut. The RWNJs scream and cry that the Democrats are “Tax and Spend Liberals” but what they conveniently ignore is the republicans are “Tax CUT and SPEND” "CON"servatives. Reality is taxes are at a 60 year low, no wonder the rich are getting richer and the poor and working/middle classes are getting stuck with the bill for the government that serves the über-wealthy disproportionately. Yeah, just another varvel FAIL.

Doesn’t look like either of the cooks are working on a nutritious well balanced meal that will contribute to the health of the nation. I also have serious doubts these parties can provide anything palatable, much less delicious. Whatever they cook, the ingredients will cost too much, probably come from overseas and/or political donors, and we will end up choking on the meals the force feed us.
May I just have a slice of bread and some clean cool water?
Respectfully,
C.

Dude, really. The new and improved is on people earning 400K a year. They may or may not have managed to amass a million dollars since most of them are small business owners. But ok. Remember how much that one item adds to revenue? About 60 to 70 billion dollars a year. Sounds like a lot doesn’t it. Here is some perspective.
Bill passed for Hurricane Sandy relief. 50 billion
Obama’s “Budget” deficit projection for 2013 901 billion
You really ought to look at the budget proposed by your party. It’s not all that bad but still spends 901 billion dollars MORE than collected. (I promise to cut the deficit in half in my first 4 years?)
But the point I wish you to see is that the oh so wonderful new and improved tax will just barely cover ONE appropriations bill. And that ONE bill is in ADDITION to the proposed budget.

Ah, but the increased spending ($1.2 trillion? added to the previous deficits of 400 billion/year) per year is paying for what? Government needs to go on a diet.

I don’t know Mr. Elephant. You screwed up the last election, with a depressed economy, higher gas prices and inflation it should have been like shooting fish in a barrel and yet you lost.

@timeweaver….the first Bush raised taxes….the second, GW, cut IRS taxes in 2001 and 2003, what policies “were a disaster”?
If you say the Afghan and Iraq wars, then you don’t believe in defending America from world Terror organizations.
At Least GW’s policy was to obey the constitution and defend our nation, after losing 3000 people on 9/11/01.
Obama is spending tax/borrowed monies on aiding andabetting the Mideast Muslim Brotherhood Terrorists in spite of their increasing attacks on Americans and on Israelis.
-
what policies do you favor, TW?
-
the GOP House produces budgets full of fiscal policies….and the Dems shred those budgets. Those GOP plans are the better alternatives to Obama/Reid spending plans….

“It ain’t what you don’t know that gets you into trouble. It’s what you know for sure that just ain’t so.”
--Mark TwainThe facts say Obama ain’t a Tax n Spend Liberal; likewise the facts say the gop ain’t careful — at all careful — with public funds. Go with what you know for sure then Varvel.
