Under Pelosi, the congress actually got a lot done. It was held up by filibusters in the senate. Under Boehner, it’s been the least productive congress ever, even the senate got a lot of bills passed that Boehner couldn’t bring up for a vote. Of course, it’s hard to pass farm bills, defense bills, transportation bills, budget bills, violence against women bills, and actually govern when you’ve got to take 33 symbolic votes against “Obamacare.”

Oh, it works “right,” all right. What you need is one that works left or moderate for a change.

    (end quote)
IMO under Pelosi and a democrat majority, the GOP was shackled and muzzled and the bills were written in secret behind Democrat doors and bulldozed to passage by Democrat votes.
    -
IMO that is not how “democracy” is supposed to work.
Pelosi led a Tyranny of the Majority.

the only thing useful that Congress can do at this point is to start cutting. Go back over every law ever made, show how the Constitution requires this law, and then it must be renewed every two years. If the Constitution does not require it, out it goes.

There are so many and such bad laws that you can’t go a day without violating something. This is the very situation they want- they selectively let you get away with it as long as you toe the line, but when you stick out and do something they don’t like, they have innumerable ways to make sure you go away.

This is not how it works in a Constitutional Republic.

Runaway federal government had one force opposing it, and it was neutralized in 1913. Since then this has been a democracy, which always ends in totalitarian dictatorship.

Cutting is what you don’t do in a depression, you need to spend and to make good paying jobs or your economy will collapse and there will be riots in the streets.
    -
Austerity is what should be done during the fat years not over spending.
