She is ‘normal’ being $10,000 in credit card debt.
Don’t be normal.
Get $1000 emergency fund.
Pay off all credit card debt.
Save 6 months emergency fund.
Save for retirement and pay off house.
Retire rich.
Don’t be normal. Be exceptional.

Take control of what you can. Unfortunately the economy, the way politicians are owned by special interest you can’t stop so easily.

We don’t buy Christmas gifts anymore. Every year we fiind someone in need, usually a single mom who can’t buy presents for her children and anonymously give money.
This year we were presented with an opportunity when we got someone else’s electric bill. We opened it by mistake, thinking it was ours. Enclosed was a notice that their electricity was going to be cut off in a few days due to nonpayment. We made the payment for them plus an extra $100 to give them some breathing room. We happened to drive by their house a few days ago on our way to visit some friends, and they had a beautiful Christmas-themed “Thank You” in their window.

Could have been worse. You could have stayed up late thinking of a new gag.
