Find the one guy who benefited from his work place to raise the min. wage. Just add a teenager saying I could not be hired.

I work in the private sector, my annual salary was cut by $1,000. My brother works for a self-supporting State Agency and he had his salary cut too. Also, they make him pay for his work-related cell phone now too.

I am a teacher. We have not had a cost of living increase in 3 years and have had increases in our inusrance cost…. Looks like the end guy is a top level private sector management person….. Selling out the little people to out of country workers and getting the raises for themselves.

Since day 1 of the recession

6.9 million jobs lost in the private sector

110,000 jobs gained by government workers

This is VERY unfair. I work for a state agency (that’s government, by the way), and we just lost over 10% of our workforce in our agency alone. That means 187 people lost their jobs. Hundreds of others from other state agencies lost theirs, as well. That may not seem like much compared to the private sector, but when you compare it to the total number of state workers, it’s a sizable loss. I don’t know about other states, but my state laid off many, many workers and also cut a number of valuable programs and services.

We almost had our salaries reduced and we will not even see a cost of living raise for the next few years.

I do not appreciate the humor.

I think they are actually referring to a congressional/senatorial government worker.

And all four voted for Reagan to “get government off the backs of Big Business” so it could loot the middle class unobstructedly. And now they have no idea why their standard of living is dropping.

My daughter works for the commonwealth of Pa. and she hasn’t seen a raise in 3 years and hopes she doesn’t get laid off- so this toon is BOGUS!

    believecommonsenseGenius_badge said, 2 months ago

state workers aren’t getting raises …. i think this toon may be about some congressional staffers getting raises and bonuses … didn’t Congress vote to keep its own pay raise too?

of course Goldman Sachs, AIG and others keep giving bonuses too

With the minimum wage going up that means people in the food, entertainment and grocery industries are going to get less hours. In the end they will get paid less.

Every time the minimum wage goes up the prices go up in these areas as well.

The comic missed it’s mark. The only place hiring is the government. Private and those wanting to make profit need not apply under Obama.

    ANandy,

My Employer did not give anyone Merit Raises this year due to the poor economy. The laid off many emplpoees, many who had benn there for 20+ years nad folks who had been ther less than 3 months.

I did not get a Raise this year, my Rasie was I got to keep my Job at my current pay rate for another year.

Anandy, the idiot Congress you are referring to is the Idiot Republican Controled Congress from 1995-2007. Thye started this fire we now see bruning out of Control today.

i just quit one of the pa state system of higher ed’s 14 universities. In the past 4 years we’ve been shoveled under so many times.

the last (union) contract, the harrisburg big suits asked us to freeze for a year and by crackie they would too - we’re with you they said - and as soon as that sucker was ratified, they voted themselves a huge raise, 9%-16% i think.

before, we had full insurance, no deductible, all you could imagine. now we pay 10% of the premium, 500 deductible and 300 out of pocket.

i really have more than i need, so i’m not complaining about the money … just the lies. that pesky desire for justice just won’t leave me alone.

And you know that the “Idiot Congress” passed a law that ties their pay raises to civil service so that they don’t have to seem to be greedy by passing their own raises EVERY YEAR.

Those three hate the government when Dems are in trying to fix the repo mess, and love it when Cons are in office bending them over and pumping their poopers.

I’ll never understand these people…unless I go crazy maybe.

In all actuality the Republicans are cleaning up the democrats mess.
    Reagan cleaned up Carter’s mess.
    Bush cleaned up Clinton’s mess.
It may be impossible to clean up Obama’s mess.

By the way it is the democrats that make special laws for the people on the poop stopper end.

    Number four!

Doesn’t it really irk you that your elected officials in Congress get an automatic payraise every year despite their approval rating of a mere 30%? I’ll tell you who should be taking a pay CUT….

The only government “workers” getting pay rases this year will be elected ones. Everyone else’s are based somewhat on the inflation rate, and it looks like because oil prices are lower than last year they’ll be able to claim we didn’t have any inflation, so there may not be a cost of living raise. Look at Social Security payments. But you know our legislators will get theirs.
