“Varvel Standard” Bass akwards, and I mean the insinuation.

Clearly the title is too confusing for the righties.
The fact that a black man is running for president sounds like a Breakthrough in politics and race to me. That black man happens to be Obama, maybe his name would show up in the title. I would think that a black woman such as Gwen Ifill, who is WELL respected, would write about such a thing.

You don’t think “The Age of Obama” sounds a little glowing?
She may do a fine job, but it seems odd to have a debate moderated by someone who wrote a book inspired by some degree by one of the candidates. (I know, he’s not in this debate.) Add to that the book’s scheduled release on Inauguration Day.
People would be just as skeptical about a moderator with a book titled, “Heroism: Politics and Military Service in the Age of McCain,” for example.

Could she dare be openly biased with all that to her credits?
Love to hear the take following the debatel.

Dan, once again I would like to thank you for making a logical, cohesive argument. All too often we get Machado and StewieZ’s rantings. It’s nice to get a conservative point of view without the drama.
As for the selection of moderator, I think this i-reporter brings up a lot of good points:

The essential one being that both camps had the opportunity to negotiate the identity of the moderator long before today. To wait until now is simply to provide an explanation/loophole for what many expect to be a complete debacle.

But why did the Republicans agree to the moderator?

Dan – I guess you could interpret it that way. Since it’s about race and politics it kind of needs the contemporaneous anchor… and frankly since Obama is the guy running, his name needs to be in it.
But really the McSame camp KNEW about this for MONTHS. So is it opportunistic that they’re bitching about it now or is it incompetent that they agreed in the first place?
Finally, how awesome was Ifill in this debate? I felt like she performed exactly as I thought she would and the opposite of what the righties were whining that she would.

Palin did better than expected…
Biden was excellent
Ifill was superb, and more than fair.

Doesn’t matter who asks the questions if Palin can’t give a straight answer –does it?
