Hummer, Expedition, and Durango ever increasing in size had a lot to do with it. Just note folks, in a totally unusual move, it’s spring driving season and gas prices are going up again. Surprise, surprise.

Trout–at least spring driving is now blamed instead of Bush

“You mean, [George W. Bush] didn’t have a dial in the oval office that controlled gas prices?”

George W. Bush thought there was.

“[The Clinton Administration] seems to forget who’s been in office for seven years…This is an administration that has been in charge, and the price of gasoline has risen steadily since they’ve been in office….I would use the capital my administration will earn with the Kuwaitis or the Saudis, to convince them to open up the spigot…That’s where we will get immediate relief.” –George W. Bush, June 28, 2000

“Missed the point there again, did you?”

    Yes, you did.

When the Democrats are in office, Republicans blame them for gas prices.

When the Republicans are in office, Democrats blame them for gas prices.

How about this: Some factors are out of our control (seasonal such as “spring driving”, etc) but some factors are IN OUR CONTROL (“jawbone the OPEC nations” as our beloved 43rd President said).

Why does it have to be either/or?

…it’s like those that deny that there’s global warming (“other planets are hotter too!” “we’ve had global warming before humans!”, etc) Yes. Those things are out of our control. But that doesn’t mean we have to do things that exacerbate it.

danielsangeo - and it also doesn’t mean we can’t have an impact anyhow. The supine helplessness of the conservative bloc against global warming astounds me. This is the group that talks about winning WWII?
If we devoted a fraction of the money we’re devoting to Iraq – or, if you prefer, the Manhattan Project – to climate change and/or alternative power, we could dump the oil sheiks back in the desert and leave them there.

Be interesting to see if Chrysler (Dodge) is still a player in NASCAR.
