It's Garfield-as you've never seen him!
Come savor the existential adventures of Jon Arbuckle in Garfield Minus Garfield. Based on the phenomenon ignited by Dan Walsh's hilarious and wildly popular webcomic (beloved by The New York Times and The
Washington Post, and hailed as "inspired" by Garfield creator Jim Davis), Garfield Minus Garfield takes everyone's favorite fat cat out of the picture, leaving us with only the lonely ennui of Jon as he's left to voice thoughts about his own existence into an empty void.

Why did they eliminate the first panel? It would still be a good gmg with it…

Garfield minus Garfield is a lot like those singing bass of a few years back. Hilarious the first time, funny several times after that.
Then, nothing. Now you play with the panels hoping to get a laugh. It’s kind of run its course, I’m afraid.
Though I will admit that last Sunday’s “real” Garfield was one of the funniest GMG’s that I’ve seen.

Happy birthday comicgirl!
Jon, I don’t think that even qualifies as a hat anymore.

I still think it’s funny; but they mess with it too much, just take Garfield out, and see what happens, don’t mess with it and create a whole new comic (which is what they have done from the start).

I think the correct way to GMG this one would be to put one blank panel, then 1 & 2.
GMG is definitely better when they don’t mess with it too much. And, as much as I hate to admit it, there may be something to presenting GMGs without showing the original strips.

Poor Jon with his “lucky” hat. Ho-hum.
Happy b-day, comicgirl1000.

I think plus4 is on to something…but I’d do 1 and 2 then the blank panel (minus Garfield) and if they feel the need to add content, then some smoke…
