It's Garfield-as you've never seen him!
Come savor the existential adventures of Jon Arbuckle in Garfield Minus Garfield. Based on the phenomenon ignited by Dan Walsh's hilarious and wildly popular webcomic (beloved by The New York Times and The
Washington Post, and hailed as "inspired" by Garfield creator Jim Davis), Garfield Minus Garfield takes everyone's favorite fat cat out of the picture, leaving us with only the lonely ennui of Jon as he's left to voice thoughts about his own existence into an empty void.

Wrong, just wrong, they should have left the dialog the way it was.

If they have to “BLEAP” with the dialog… then don’t bother. Hi Liam
EDIT: The original hand grenade was BLEAPED by me, but the GMG for today is still .crappy.

Hey Jon, try earplugs next time you do an index-finger drum solo.
I agree with you guys. It should have been left with the original lines.

Another complete screw up thanks to GMG.

No one is CAUSEING IN HERE. I’m beginning to think this GMG thing is a wash. Some of the time it’s really good, though not much lately. Maybe it should be put down. Maybe the CAUSEING should be going to the C&H page instead. Now
that’s CAUSEING to my eyes/ears.

I don’t think you understand. It’s not so much the comic strip that makes these funny, it’s the comments they elicit from the Peanuts gallery (Oops, wrong strip).
I’m not reading GMG for the strip itself, I’m reading it to see what smart remarks can be made from it, and make a few myself.

Works better with the original dialog, imo. Changing boredom to noise make it into a typical, comics page joke. Leaving the word as “boredom” reminds me of Thoreau’s “The mass of men lead lives of quiet desperation” only Jon, as befits him, isn’t so quiet about it.

This version of GMG changes the text, or even some of the panels completely. It doesn’t work as well.

I’ve taken to ignoring the one without Garfield and only reading the one with him. That way I can think of it as reading two Garfield strips a day instead of one. These are repeats I know but I don’t remember them.

Boredom v. Noise,
mrprongs said, 9 months ago
Boredom works better without Garfield. If he can’t stand the noise, why make it? Silence would have worked wonders here?
