It's Garfield-as you've never seen him!
Come savor the existential adventures of Jon Arbuckle in Garfield Minus Garfield. Based on the phenomenon ignited by Dan Walsh's hilarious and wildly popular webcomic (beloved by The New York Times and The
Washington Post, and hailed as "inspired" by Garfield creator Jim Davis), Garfield Minus Garfield takes everyone's favorite fat cat out of the picture, leaving us with only the lonely ennui of Jon as he's left to voice thoughts about his own existence into an empty void.

It only works if John gets pinched, otherwise John just looks weird in the second panel and there is no obvious link to the third.

It works perfectly, I think. Jon wakes up from his great dream to his lame bachelor reality. It’s more surreal with Garfield acting inside Jon’s dream!

It was pretty obvious he was being pinched and woke up. Sure, you don’t see who or what’s pinching him, but it was a dream, so it really doesn’t matter.
I’m surprised by how many of these, Garfield is almost an after thought and has little or no bearing on the punchline.

Look at today’s “Garfield” strip–no Garfield, and it WORKS!

Jon is sadder in the origional as even in his good dreams he is tortured.
