I’d heard that 90% of dust is dead human skin cells.

Ever see those ads for mattresses ? The ones that tell you what your mattress is composed of after a few years? Makes a person want to sleep standing up.

The door-to-door Kirby vacuum salesmen used that as a tool to sell their high-priced machines in the 50’s. After he vacuumed one matress, Mom convinced Dad that we were breeding diseases just by sleeping. On the plus side, that vacuum was still working when she died at 73 years of age with only a few belt replacements.

I heard the same – but it sounds like something made up to sell vacuum cleaners – http://www.livescience.com/32337-is-house-dust-mostly-dead-skin.html

My husband took a cat’s eye view video years ago. He followed our cats around the house, at their level. He even “scratched the pole” and “ate”. What was hilarious was, at one points, the cats played along!

If you want to have a good dusty fact to fool around with, tons of dust enter Earth’s atmosphere from space daily. Some percent of it came from Mars.

Like my daughter tells our cat: I always forget you see the world from, like, a foot off the ground!

Thank you… now dust makes me feel less creepy.

How about from a spider’s viewpoint?
    Or smaller?

I have only seen Garfield walking/standing on his back legs, or lying down/sleeping. I doubt that Garfield knows what the world looks like on all fours.

That was my initial thought, too, John, but then I remembered that until the mid ‘80s or so, Garfield actually walked on all fours. Maybe Jon’s having a flashback here?

The comments regarding vacuums got my attention. The comparative used by Kirby, and I’m sure other high priced door to door products, is always he who vacuums last wins!
    .
If you are so inclined, try it yourself. Vacuum a portion of carpet, any carpet, and then substitute machines. Be sure the next machine has a fresh bag or clean dust cup. I can guarantee you will get more dirt the second time you vacuum, and the third, and the fourth, etc.
