    Just watched a show about people who own tiny
    animals for pets on "Nat Geo. There was a guy in a
    recliner letting his pet rat eat bits of food off his teeth.
    I thought I’d seen about everything until I watched
    this show. Some people are just nuts.

    That’s called “Rodentistry” and is common behavior in domesticated fancy rats. Usually any domesticated rat will show some kind of grooming behavior toward favored humans.

    Note Domesticated means about 150 years of breeding to remove them from the main line of Norwegian brown rats. Plus additional selective breeding for specific traits, like amiability and intelligence.
