Well Jon can’t relate to it, then.

He looks like he is stoned in the first two panels.

Why is Liz reading out loud in the first place? They’re probably watching a horror-movie and she wants to douse the chilly sound-effects…
Yet, judging by the others’ expressions, its either a melodramatic movie, or a lengthy commercial.
Or maybe the TV is off and Garfield is asking for a remote to turn it on.
    The possibilities are endless…

She’s reading out loud to them. My husband and I sometimes read out loud to each other. It was especially fun when we read “Five Love Languages”; we added goofy voices for some of the recurring phrases.

“It was a dark and stormy night. Suddenly, a shot rang out! A door slammed. The maid screamed. Suddenly, a pirate ship appeared on the horizon! While millions of people were starving, the king lived in luxury. Meanwhile, on a small farm in Kansas, a boy was growing up.”
