It would seem that practice AND pride comes before a fall?

Kinda reminds me of my cat. He would climb a tree and cry piteously, begging to be rescued. As soon as I would lug the ladder across the yard and set it up, then climb up to get him, he’d look at me, laugh, and gracefully leap from the tree branch like it was nothing!

He’ll get down okay by himself. Never seen a cat skeleton in a tree.

That’s because the squirrels lug away the body for experimentation.

Why go up in a tree if you can’t get down? I mean Garfield is no ordinary cat.

Reminds me of a story I’d heard a few months ago: the fire department in NY was called to rescue a police officer who climbed a tree to rescue a cat. No word on the cat’s fate.

I heard about a cat on top of a phone pole. Rescuers reached for him and he jumped! Amazingly, he landed okay and ran for it! Look it up if you don’t believe.

The actual quote you’re paraphrasing is “Pride goeth before destruction”. Many people erroneously say “before a (or the) fall”.
