    Historically, it was because their feral ancestors hid marrow-laden bones of their prey to be recovered in times of scarcity. Grizzly bears do the same thing, except they hide the whole carcass.

    Some dogs also like to feast on other animals’ poop. I don’t know of any other creature that does that …. maybe its a sign of inbreeding.

    They don’t find them all. That is the source of oak tree saplings many yards away from the ‘parent’ tree.

    Well Garfield you cats have an equivalent to that, it’s burying your stuff in the litter box. Only some cats don’t bother to bury it. Others go outside the box and then drag litter out of the box to bury it.

    I had a lhasa apso that buried pancakes in the backyard and forgot where they were. It was funny as hell watching him try to find them!
