If Garfield Without Garfield became Garfield Without Jon, nobody would notice anything different from the regular Garfield strip.

Aye there’s nothing like a man’s pet to REALLY make him feel good? Do ye not think that Jon should be put on suicide watch? With that in mind, With such ego boosting comments like Garf makes….we should have lent him to Saddam and Bin Laden…it would have saved a great deal of time and bother.
Garf…America’s REAL SECRET WEAPON!

The sad truth is that unless someone is written up in history books, eventually, generations later, he will be forgotten.

History? Not sure that a person wants to be written up in history. With revisionist history in the 1920s and in the 1990s-present, history is often written by those wanting to deceive.
.
An example is a 1920s book called “Meet General Grant”. It was weird and not a little funny because it was written by a Southerner who admired Grant and destested Lincoln. So, Grant was written up very matter of fact, and Lincoln was presented as a caricature.
.
It’s the same type of thing done to Clinton 1993-2001 and Bush 2001-2009.
.
Another example is the media changing the meaning of terms. In the last two years, the enviromental lobby has been called “conservationist” despite the complete difference between those two. Conservation brought us recycling, the 1960s Wilderness Act, the Multiple Use, Sustained Yield Act, the Forest Management Practices Act, the Clean Water Act, the Clean Air Act, the Northwest Forest Plan, etc.
.
Enviromentalists brought us about 300 years’ worth of fire return in 7 years with the B&B Fire, Cache Mountain Fire, Biscuit Fire, New Mex last year, Arizona in 2003, etc. Then had the guts to complain about the loss of habitat on those lands that they were instrumental in creating catastrophic burns on. Get the soil hot enough and you get dry ravel and even vitrification. (The soil turns to glass and until freeze/thaw breaks it up, the water runs off it without infiltration and
.
But what do “history” books and the media now say about environmentalism?

The lazy losers’ method for instant fame is to shoot somebody famous. For everybody else, there is always American Idol.
