Wasn’t there a famous jogger who died of a heart attack at the age of 42 or something ??? I remember because of all the scofflaws laughing at his ‘jogging is good for you’ mantra.

@ Cooncat. Yes, Jim Fixx. Died in 1982 at the age of 52 from a heart attack after completing his daily run.

If you have a heart condition, then of course you could still die even if you run. But the benefits of jogging do help keep you in better shape.

Jogging (or running) is great exercise. Jim Fixx had several issues in the background that ultimately led to his death. One, genetic predisposition. His father apparently had died from a heart attack. Two, Jim himself had at one time been a heavy smoker. And three, Jim before he took up running was way overweight, up to 220 lbs. Those three factors together led to several of his arteries being blocked. It was just a matter of time.
