Garfield’s really thinking, “Are you nuts, lady?”

Yeah, I just Dare her to try to take that cup away! She’d be clawed to shreds. (Like Jon’s couch.)

Cats really shouldn’t drink coffee, but Garfield is the very embodiment of cartoon physics (and chemistry).

Of course, Liz, you might have a word with Garfield’s supplier, Doctor Toon

He’s a cat and she’s a human. Since when do cats have to listen to humans?

Garfield’s been drinking coffee for almost 30 years, so I think veterinary science is bunk in this instance.

Anyone who thinks that Garfield is a cat, or even a caricature of a cat, is a bit off the tracks, if you ask me. Hell, Jim Davis has never owned a cat, and has proven over the years that he doesn’t understand them at all. Garfield is just a Garfield.

my first vet said I shouldn’t drink coffee and eat lasagna because it would kill me, so I outlived him.

I agree Garfield is NOT a cat. My cats have never tried to mooch my coffee.

Rakkav - Nuclear Coffee Mutation would explain how Garfield can walk on his hind legs and hold a coffee cup.
My cat, Boots, can open cupboards and bedroom doors.

Farren: I’m a cat owner, and I can honestly say, that Jim has the right idea about cats and dogs. Cats are proud and selfish, just like Garfield, and dogs are a bit hyperactive, friendly and a bit stupid, just like Odie. Well, it’s exaggerated, so it can be funny, but still…

Even Jon was surprised when he first saw Garfield drinking coffee. It was the 29th of June 1978; ten days after “Garfield” got started. I’m not kidding. Go to the Comic Vault on http://www.garfield.com

farren: As I recall (which nowadays can be subject to various “error codes”) Jim Davis started “Garfield” because he didn’t LIKE cats. Again, my memory is not guaranteed against defects.

I have a siamese cat, and an orange tabby. When I drink coffee, I put alot of cream and sugar into it, and then usualy let it get cold, not sure why but its the way I have always drank it. My Tabby (Reeces Peanut Butter Cup) sniffs at it, then runs around in circles like he is disgusted. My siamese (King Tut) always tries to sneak in a few drinks. I try to keep him out of it, but he is persistant.
