What we have here, is failure to negotiate.

No, it’s not a failure, they have slightly different viewpoints, that’s all. Plus Garfield has the newspaper…

Silly spider.
Why would a cat have a sense of humanity?

Jon runs across the panel: “Garfield The spiders are revolting!!”
A mob of angry spiders with torches and pitchforks follows.
Garfield is reading the paper: “I know. Disgusting, aren’t they?”

On the nail NR!
Jaws2z, the “negotiator spider” got whacked, but Garfield only managed to crush two of his/her legs (if so, first time he’s missed, could it be intentional as message?).

There’s power in numbers so all of you attack him at once.

Why appeal to Garfields sense of humanity? He’s a cat.

Imaginably, supposedly if too many spiders chase after Garfield, will he smack each spider with one newspaper? Garfield needs to do is put the gas mask on his face and spray the can of Raid, the deadly chemical killer spray to kill whole spiders at once. LOLs!
prasrinivara said, 6 months ago
Wildmustang1262, that one newspaper can easily splat more than one spider at a time (also remember that he has the coffee in the cup–presumably hot–which can drown-and-burn several).

Garfield doesn’t kill the messenger. He just chops off their digits.
