"Frog Applause reminds one of learning to read, in the sense that each word in the captions seems 'surprising' and new. Teresa's writing takes one back to that fresh state of mind (typical of, but of course not limited to, childhood) in which the brain, free of preconceptions, doesn't 'fill in' any blind spots along the way but rather wholly embraces the present moment as it unfolds. Every sentence is literally an imagination-expanding adventure." — Craig Conley, author of One-Letter Words: A Dictionary (HarperCollins)

Well, that will just not be appropriate.

Regarding that thing on the blog about the ruinous effect of cats on wildlife, I solve that problem by simply not letting my cat go outside without him being in a harness and on a leash.
This carries the added benefit of me never having to worry that he’ll get lost or killed, because I’m always there to supervise his excursions.

You’re a responsible pet owner. Many vets recommend keeping cats inside. They live much longer.

RE: blog.
Gee that sheep gained 10 lbs a year.
The wool chaps made me laugh. But I suppose they’re warm.
It’s best that I not comment on the red Whoopee man.

Angler Fish are fascinating creatures but for the little males they have an important but ultimately self sacrificing role in life.

“Gimcrack” must always be paired with “gewgaw.”

Yes, keeping cats inside avoids a lot of heartbreak and loss. However, I feel taking them outside in a harness/leash is the right thing to do, because my cat, for one, is fascinated by the outdoors. He LOVES smelling everything and chewing on the grass.
Also, because he’s had a chance to get used to being outside, that prevents him from freaking out and running away if or when he accidentally gets out of the house. It’s much safer and better if your cat understands what the outdoors is and how to find his or her way back into the house.

Do you mean mashie niblick, pitching niblick or just plain niblick?
Also ‘bagatelle’ will get you much further than ‘gimcrack’ any day. Way more upscale.
