"Frog Applause reminds one of learning to read, in the sense that each word in the captions seems 'surprising' and new. Teresa's writing takes one back to that fresh state of mind (typical of, but of course not limited to, childhood) in which the brain, free of preconceptions, doesn't 'fill in' any blind spots along the way but rather wholly embraces the present moment as it unfolds. Every sentence is literally an imagination-expanding adventure." — Craig Conley, author of One-Letter Words: A Dictionary (HarperCollins)

Wow, Sisyphos… That Lady??? You talk like you don’t know who Grace the Face is.

See Aug 18-19. Grace is 170 years old.

The kind of girl you want to take home to meet the folks. It’s a good thing we can’t see any lower in the picture-he probably messed himself. Who wouldn’t understand?
Sisyphos said, 2 months ago
Well, judyparka, I speak from little Johnny’s perspective. I guess he wouldn’t know Grace….

My knees are aching just looking at how he’s sitting. Can I say that or am I being rude again BURGUNDY2?

If I could have watched that show, I would never have shut off the cable.

Don’t look into her eyes! That’s how she drains your life energy.
olivefoote said, 2 months ago
I think it’s too late. Grace has already taken over his mind.
olivefoote said, 2 months ago
There are TWO Burgundys? Or is that Burgundies?
Burgundy2 said, 2 months ago
Actually, there’s three that I know of. Burgundy, Burgundy2 (yours truly) and Burgundytoo.
Apparently, red wine is popular.
And no, Burg, that wasn’t rude. I was thinking how kids used to sit like that all the time, but I seldom see that any more.
Maybe that’s why my knees are so messed up now.

I could have sworn that little girl is the one from the Addams Family…no?
flyingflowerpot said, 2 months ago
I like the big bolty things near the top of the set.
painedsmile said, 2 months ago
I guess changing the channel isn’t an option. How many channels were there back then?
sandboil said, 2 months ago
Scoot back. You’re too close to the TV.

BobWells: No, that’s not Wednesday Addams. It’s the face of a little girl taken from an old photograph. See Judy Parka’s comment above.

painedsmile: I can only speak for Chicago. We had CBS, channel 2, NBC, channel 5, and ABC, channel 7. We also had local channel 9 WGN, and PBS Channel 11.
Sisyphos said, 2 months ago
Margueritem, Chicagoland still has all those plus a host of others, now, on broadcast TV (i.e., not cable). But since the changeover to digital transmission, reception is a bit dodgy ; if you [read: “I”] have indoor (“rabbit-ear”) antennas, you [read: “I”] may not be able to get all the stations that you [read:”I”] did on analog unless your TV set, your windows, the stars, and the Wizard of Oz are all lined up in perfect conjunction. (grumble, grumble)
Sandor_at_the_Zoo said, 2 months ago
You wouldn’t have this problem if you made the switch to digital.
