This is actually sad, kids think the only thing the post office does is deliver bills and birthday invitations. I actually love getting a letter in the mail. About the only letter I get is one from a cousin that does not have a computer or smart phone.

My wife has several pen pals. Two in Japan, one in South America, another in Great Britain. Plus 3 or 4 here in the good ole U.S.A. I’m doing my share in keeping the Postal Service solvent.

What a joy it is to get a well-crafted letter from a friend. Sad that hardly anyone sends them anymore. Today’s pace and technology has stripped away the elegance of penning a memorable and well-thought-out letter that touches the soul and is kept in drawer as a valued treasure.

I still have many of the letters and cards that my grandparents sent me as a child. The five dollars they typically sent me as a brithday gift has long since been spent, but the sentiment of the words they took the time to put to paper still inspire memories of good days long since past.

I love what Thomas Jefferson said once in writing a long letter, it went something like, “please excuse this lenghty letter, if I had more time it would have been shorter”…

Where has the art of writing gone? Sadly, the same place as the art of conversation. Write someone you love a letter today!
