My favorite religious story this week was the 2,000 pound granite monument with the 10 commandments put on Oklahoma property that had at least two spelling errors.

The local high school still has the “Prayer Around the Flagpole”, but they no longer announce it. I am ready to prepare a large banner reading “Matt 6:5-6” for the occasion. Plus the site of around the flagpole has such idolatrous symbolism!

Night-Gaunt: That’s what I was implying. I had a pastor who pointed out that churches with a US flag and a church flag up front always had the US flag in the “place of honor” – implying that the state was superior to God. After the service, I pointed one exception, a white pennant with a black St. George cross, flown over the national ensign when services are held on US Navy ships. He was doubly embarrassed, because he was chaplain to a destroyer flotilla in Korea (and a Navy Cross dive bomber pilot in WW-II). But his point about churches was totally correct.
