Moses never really had a destination address. “The Promised Land” was a bit vague.

Actually, Moses knew exactly where he was going; but, due to the hard-heartedness of the Israelites and their being rebellious, they ended up wandering around in the wilderness of the Sinai for 40 years.

In those days, “40 years” was a round number meaning a whole life time.

And since Moses let his anger directed at the people for their grumbling, he struck a rock for water the 2nd time when LORD God had told him to just speak to it.

Moses was told by God to strike a rock the 1st time they needed water. But, because of Moses’ anger and the people’s bitter attitude, the water was bitter and had to be purified with a certain plant.

Their shoes never wore out because they were too lazy to move around all that much. They brought with them the soft life attitude from Egypt.

Sadly I know some people around me that way.
