    No, no: monks have the “job” of seeking God and praying. And the Rule (of Benedict) says that monks who return after a journey must not speak of what they saw outside, because that is not good for their souls.

    Besides, monks are in the monastery because they need that discipline and supervision, not because they are holier than anyone else…

    The Rule of Benedict also stresses Personal Cleanliness.

    They must, among other things, be provided with clean towels to wipe their hands and feet.
