My parents had a Golden Retriever “Ruffus” who snatched a steak off the BBQ—coals still hot! They certainly do help themselves, to whatever isn’t attended!

They never learn! They leave the sausages out and expect Fred not to take them. They’re wrong for leaving them out where he can get them.

Dog or no dog, meat should not be left on the counter. It should be in the refrigerator.

Fred needs to be trained to leave things alone, but the owners also need to train themselves not to leave things sitting out.

Exactly Chickweed – you are soooo right. Don’t leave food out to tempt Fred.

A nice Milk Bone? Some Beggin’ Strips, perhaps, with a side of left-over fried egg?

Reminds me of my first dog, a terrier. My father brought home a gourmet blueberry pie one night. We had to run out to the store for something and when we got back, half the pie was gone. The dog, with blueberry all over his furry little face, was the picture of innocence. It was so funny we couldn’t even be angry. Disappointed, however.

The “wurst” type of thief, stealing from the hands that feed and shelter him. Shame on you Fred.
