    The W.I. is the Women’s Institute, community-based organizations for women in the UK. Monty Python’s Flying Circus fans should be familiar with them. They’re the applauding ladies in the very short b&w video byte occasionally featured on the show.

    That is a great piece of information—thanks for sharing it. I’ve seen that video clip many, many times but had no idea it had a particular source.

    Yes, Calendar Girls did make it to the U.S. It’s a fun movie showing that women can be beautiful at any age. And men can be handsome at any age. It just depends on whether they’ve taken care of their bodies and not become obese or even extremely skinny.

    When I clicked on “Fred Bassett” I got a pop-up. The purpose of advertising is to sell stuff. If someone thinks I’m gonna buy something from anybody who annoys the hell outta me he better reconsider!
