One thing for sure, Fred, that is one thing you don’t have to worry about with your ‘ballast’.

Good thing this isn’t a US strip. I don’t get print papers, but I would guess this one was pulled after the tornado in OK. Not appropriate day for a joke about high winds tossing dogs into trees…

And then he lands on the Wicked Witch of the East and steals her ruby slippers.

This could just be a fierce wind and not necessarily a tornado.

Of course it could have been, but it is still a rather touchy subject to a lot of viewers. It would have been thoughtful to postpone it, and replace it with something else. It’s been done, by other strips that I know of, when there are emergencies and disasters. Like I said, since this isn’t a US based strip they may not have thought of it. But, picture yourself in OK reading the paper today. Do you really want a “joke” about a high wind blowing a dog into a tree? Not if your own pet is missing. Not when there are animal carcasses in trees…

not many trees in OK nor north Texas anyway. I lived a few miles below the Tx/Ok border for 5 years, just outside of Sheppard Air Force Base. Saw 2 huge dust storms, many ‘cloud rotations’ that became tornadoes 5 to 20 miles ‘downstream’ of us. There was that 1 week when, on 3 different days, 2 days apart, there was 100+ mph winds that was not associated with a tornado.
    .
Moore, OK was beat up by tornados 15 years and 2 weeks ago. Seeing all the power lines, I’d have figured those would have gone underground when they rebuilt.
    .
I’m still waiting for my sister to call me back and tell me she, and her family, are ok.
    .
This comic does not insult nor demean American tornado victims.
