I used to have middle school students who would say “I’m boring.” Their English skills didn’t seem to include “I’m bored.” or “This work is boring.” I didn’t take it personally, but just reminded them of the due date or told them that was a personal problem.

I’ve also heard other parents say “Only boring people get bored”, but I always thought that was harsh.
