Actually, the best fighting dogs, like pit bulls, are low to the ground. It helps them to attack that really sensitive area, provided the vet didn’t get there first.

Fred doesn’t have the necessary attitude. I know of a dachshund who saw off a large dog by this low level approach though.

Fred’s not a mean dog, he’d rather just make friends.

What does it take to be in your league
    a bad attitude
    or fast feet
    When the big dog barks
    Your sensitive area puckers up

GrimmaTheNome, that’s funny about the dachshund! I know one and your comment reminded me of him. They are scrappy little dogs!
Fred is a lover not a fighter. ;)

We had a dog that was vertically challenged and he was not a fighter. But one day my daughter was walking him and he was threatened by a rottweiler. Tippy ignored him completely until the rotty snapped at my daughter. Then Tippy went at him, grabbed his front leg, and went under him. That rolled the rotty onto his back and Tippy got on top of him and wouldn’t let him up. Tippy was about 65 pounds and took down a 120 pound rottweiler and held him at bay. Since Tippy had never been in a fight we were puzzled as to where that move came from.
