Most embarrassing moment for any dog.

It would have been more interesting to see how Fred got up there. For that matter, why is the cat not trying to climb the tree?

Miss Kitty Cat does that to my Biggie Dog all the time - Dog won’t even make eye contact when Miss Kitty does the Stare Down!

Fred is a surprisingly good climber when properly motivated!

Is this cat regular (domestic) or one of other species (such as Linus Van Pelt’s “gully-cat”, lynx, Scottish-wild, caracal, …)?

I didn’t know cats chased dogs…maybe the big ones but not that little wimp.

Fred it’s ok. It’s just a dumb cat.

whmlll - you’d have to understand the dog. My basset is the biggest wimp on the planet. It wouldn’t take much of a cat to get her running up a tree.

Our Cats are smarter, they will climb the tree and beat up the dog.

whmlll,
When I was a Cub, we had a female cat that beat up dogs; one of her daughters continued the tradition. The Daughter of this, cat beat up a dog. The dog walked in the back covered porch. Before he could make it halfway down the porch, our cat was on his back clawing, biting, and scratching to protect her days old kittens.
The dog ran through the Screen door with cat still on its back riding like Cowboys ride Bulls.
The dog hung a left up the County Road. When the cat reached the gate to our pasture we rented to a cattle farmer, she jumped off the dog. The dog flew up the rod, and she sashayed back to the house.
That was her stern warning to the dog, if he dared pass the gate, he would be beat up again. We never saw him venture passed the gate again.

Ol Fred’s lucky that he never met the “The Mean cat from next door” from Peanuts or “The Big Mean Cat” from Ribbons & Haywire!
