Macushalondra, I agree - Fred doesn’t seem like that kind of dog! (I had a golden retriever once who was, though - every trip to the vet resulted in her scaling the walls.)
My dogs HATE to have their nails clipped. The one runs for his kennel as soon as he sees me get the clippers out. The other will constantly fidget, but I can often distract her with peanut butter long enough to get her’s clipped.
whmIII, that one’s already been run on an early Garfield. Jon tried to have Garfield declawed and reported to Lyman afterwards that the stitches would be removed in a week (and that the recipient of the stitches was not Garfield)
Saucy hated to have her nails clipped. With Moxie, I use the Dremel with sandpaper attachment (works like Pedipaws, but I already own one). She doesn’t mind a bit. Well, at least if I wait until she’s half asleep she doesn’t mind. If I try when she’s wide awake, she wants to play instead.
Any reader who has ever been a "dog’s best friend" will recognize and love Fred. Fred is a wry and witty observer of life, finding funnybones and turning up smiles on three continents.

Fred, you don’t need to take a tranquiller before your master takes you to the vets. You will be fine without tranquiller.

Can I ever relate! My Jake and Myrtle are the most gentle sweet basset hounds in the world UNTIL it come to nail trimming!

Only 1 of my 3 bassets let me clip their nails. This picture is of the one that does!
