There really isn’t anything that’s much better to do….Surgeons, police, and a few others I guess…

Exact communication is truly important. This three-pronged language of ours can carry different meanings to different people, depending on who says what to whom and what intonation is used.

And teachers lay the foundations in the hearts and minds that become Surgeons, police, and a few others I guess. ;)
    Thank you Mr. Humphries.
    Very Respectfully,

Demonstrates the danger of a five word answer to a kid’s question. We don’t take time to talk.

That actually is what he said. “A crust of bread is better than nothing.” “Nothing is better than true love” therefore, by the transitive property, a crust of bread is better than true love. Sort of like how the prefix in- can mean not or very, as in “invaluable”. Or worse, “inflammable”

It’s not what you say but how you say it.

    God is Love.
    Love is blind.
    Stevie Wonder is blind.
Ergo sum Stevie Wonder is God.

Yeah, Selective Hearing, or is that comprehension?

I agree. Often, though, two can hear or read the same exact thing, and no matter how clearly the message has been communicated, the “takeway” for each is different. When the failure to comprehend is willful, the chances of converying meaning are not good.

Ha! This is funny! If that kid could have seen my school that would have been a good assumption. That corrupt bunch of mongrels, getting uniform sales kickbacks in order to starve the schools of books. The Las Vegas tourist council must have had knowledge of our school’s football program when they came up with their slogan, “What Happens in Vegas Stays in Vegas.”

Thing of it is though, a man like Mr. Burke could get poached by some company looking for talent.

Great teachers are the most important factor in the improvement of our country. Finland and Korea only a couple of generations ago were backwards, but solely through the improvement of their education systems are they going great guns with vibrant economies. Poland is now going through this transformation, according to the new book, “The Smartest Kids in the World.” It’s published by Simon & Schuster. Secondary teachers here love to say poverty is insurmountable, but in Finland the poorest kids outperform some of our richest kids. In the US many of the rich kids don’t know simple math. They conclude they are just bad at math. The real problem of course is the teaching and curriculum.

“God” means to “call a deity.” That is its precise meaning.

In Finland there are no private schools or home schools.
