Morals are doing what is right even when it’s not convenient. One of the things that’s killing us as a country is that so many now just “fit in” when fitting in means doing something wrong like stealing.

Perhaps it is because moral fiber requires the letting go of so much that we hold dear for no particular reason, having already extracted anything of value long ago. We hang on to things, and defend our hanging on as rational, holding hard and fast to what is essential poisonous to us when it would be better to vent our discontent and discard them.

Some things are not moral but are treated as such.

Lack of morals has nothing to do with what’s “killing us as a country”. What’s killing us is a capitalistic economic system that is essentially a grand pyramid scheme. Like all pyramid schemes it is bottoming out.

That’s what I tell people when they are outraged about something they hear on Fox News or MSNBC: If it upsets you, don’t watch.

I would be interested in reading about moral fiber and going to church rather than listening to my dad bloviate about Jesus when we never went to church or owned a bible.

Yep, that’s what I tell people who complain about what they hear… They get even more obnoxious when I tell ‘em I don’t want to have to listen to them either!

Who are these columists who have attracted the attention of the eight year-old? Ah, forget it.

If you think that, you have been figuratively hiding your head in the sand. There are a number of internal and external forces working to destroy us a nation, or at least as the nation we used to be.
