    His butt is in remarkably good shape for suffering such a kicking.

    Hell isn’t all that far from Ypsilanti – I had to drive from Hell to the UPS hub in Ypsilanti to pick up some t-shirts that I had ordered for the last-ever “Vista Cruise to Hell and Back” on Father’s Day weekend in 2007. I also got my first taste of Tim Horton’s (a chain of donut shops which are mainly found in Canada) while I was in Ypsilanti.

    Is that pronounced “oop-sil-anti” or “ip-sil-anti”?

    @zellman

    IPsilanti, although most people around there pronounce it YIPsilanti. Love the Ypsilanti Press delivery tubes in front of people’s houses that are spelled “Yipsilanti Press”. I could just see someone calling the manufacturer by phone to order them and pronouncing it YIPsilanti. Poor manufacturer just did it the way it was told.. and funnier yet that they were still used.

    IPsilanti. And people around here pronounce it IPsilanti. That’s how we can spot the people who aren’t from around here :)

    So Frazz can quote all the great philosophers. He recites the most meaningful poetry. He creates art, but is just as brilliant in the sciences, having mastered every discipline. His skill in deductive reasoning is unmatched; there is nothing he can’t figure out. He is dedicated to doing his workouts, extremely careful about minding his health. He eats right. He loves nature, and goes to the coolest places (Joshua Tree!) with his girl and wants nothing from that girl at Christmas except her love and companionship. He is a role model for children. The only thing he watches on TV is bike racing. He knows stuff. Lots and lots of stuff.

    This highly evolved, near perfect human specimen, though, has a flaw: elite triathletes swim faster than he does. Never mind that he likely can outswim 95% of the fat, lazy population at large; he’s slower than the greats. Ouch!

    If this, Mr. Mallett, is the way you make your hero seem like a relatable guy, a Regular Joe, you may want to take another stab at it.
