In what world does it take all day to get a cast off? If school opens at 9:00, and the doctor’s office at 8:00, there should be plenty of time to get the cast off and get back to the school in time for classes.

When was the last time Mr. Uhrmann substituted? He’s the one who gives Caufield a challenge, right? He’s great.

Ales have you been to the doc lately? 9:30 is the earliest appt avail where i live. add at least 30 mins in waiting room and 30 mins in treatment room before you see the doc, after the cast comes off you need to shower because that area stinks. day is pretty much shot.

I’m a little surprised by Plainwell’s failure to use the possessive pronoun immediately before a gerund.

I wonder, too, if Mrs. Olsen is referring to the sounds of the cheers of the students, or the cheering she is doing on her own, for herself?

Congrats – Your post didn’t involve a recipe or wikipedia.

I would make the first appointment of the day (10:30 am) and if I was lucky the doctor ARRIVED at his office by 11:30, by which time there was a half-dozen of us waiting.

Jef, did you see that Eppie Johnson just died? He was the founder of the world’s first traithlon, “Eppie’s Great Race,” here in Sacramento. See the story in today’s Sacramento Bee. sacbee.com

The only one? What do you do, grade every utterance by every character every day and keep track on a spreadsheet?

What world are you living in where school starts at 9:00? Besides that, teachers get a certain number of “sick days” per year. Why on earth would she want to hurry from the doctor instead of taking the day off?

@bigpuma “I’m a little surprised by Plainwell’s failure to use the possessive pronoun immediately before a gerund.”

    *

I think “you” is the object of the preposition “about,” and “being gone” is an adjectival phrase modifying “you.” If I’d been the speaker, I’d have put a little extra verbal emphasis on “you” to highlight the contrast between “your cast” and “you.” How much was about your cast, and how much was about you. (Drat. No can do italics, despite having been told how multitudinous times. Must write down instructions next time. But where?!)
