    @Arianne:
    I just saw your Cold Turkey comment from 6/20.
    My favorite line from the entire movie was spoken by Judith Lowry:
    “I’ll tell that to a Communist when he H-bombs me. I’ll tell him, ‘Before you H-bomb me, you go over to that man with a gun and get captured.’ You’re a bull$#!+, Amos Bush!”
    Blockade scene from Cold Turkey

    I love the depiction of the broken wrists.

    And that Mrs Olsen, in her rage, can still point the finger of accusation (Oh – hang on is it the finger of scorn? I can never remember which one is which – surely there is a mnemonic somewhere [cue someone clever to provide one]) – anyway – she still points with the finger on the damaged-wrist-hand. That is CLASS>

    The nitwit in the car better be glad Mrs. Olsen has an injured arm, because if she could get her hands on him…OUCH!!

    Speaking of nitwits, what’s with all the idiots like Ashburn who are making comments unrelated to the cartoon – the comments in Andy Capp are worst of all…

    Can’t recall an arc this long that didn’t include Frazz.

    How refreshing this has been! Mr. Mallett doesn’t often portray Mrs. Olsen in such a heroic light, choosing instead to depict her as a buffoon. Her smoking, grooming habits, questionable competence/commitment to her profession, lack of humor, her eating habits and weight — these and more have been mocked repeatedly, and for years. Throw in the fact that Caulfield has such sport with her, and that Frazz does nothing to discourage it, and it’s clear: she had this coming. A nice development.

    I have the "Frazz’ books, and in one of them there’s an arc about how during the summer, while jogging through his neighborhood, Frazz comes upon Mrs. Olsen working in her garden. It’s the first time he has ever seen her outside of the school environment. The conversational dance they do as he discovers how much she loves flowers and the care of them, while she attempts to maintain some semblance of her gruff-teacher persona, is quite touching. As I recall, he ends up helping her out for a while because it turns out she’s actually interesting to hang out with. But maybe you know all this already…I usually let a year or so go by between bedtime “Frazz” marathons, wherein I reread the whole series from the beginning. (Same with Calvin and Hobbes.) It’s been a while now since I’ve read the early ones, so my memory may be a bit skewed.
