Uh-oh, my Garmin 205 recently broke, had to return new Garmin 210 bought on line, didnt work properly, ordered second Garmin (310XT) love it, works great! The month I went without I had to run and cycle naked (no time piece or GPS) and it drove me crazy. I do like to run naked on my terms from time to time, but hated being forced to. I love the ability of running and cycling anywhere and always knowing my time, distance, pace, and map of my workouts.

Yeah, my 305 kicked the bucket in a rainstorm this winter. I ended up with another 305 after reviewing a bunch of others (now I have spare parts!). I, too, like having my speedo/odo right there, so I don’t have to worry about where I am, I can just run…

Another click on the Caulfield Eyeball Rollometer. Ugh.

Weird opener. How much time does it take to tell time??? As long as it takes to direct your eyeballs to the clock. Or is he asking how long it takes a young child to learn to tell time on a clock?

I think he’s checking his watch for other time data, apart from the time of day. How long he was on the road, the time it took to cover a given distance, maybe broken into “splits”. I’m sure triathletes use all kinds of fancy gadgets to tell them all kinds of things.

As for that being a “weird opener”, Caulfield being an ironical pill is SOP.

You omitted a word. The question was, “How much time does it take YOU to tell time?”
In other words, “Do all those fancy electronic features you have on your wristwatch serve any practical purpose, or are they just a waste of your time?”

No, actually he doesn’t have a point. Training requires data.

Caulfield has his fun from questioning standard, accepted norms. He wants to see what happens when he inquires about them and posits other ways.
